KITO ER2 Electric Chain Hoist for lifting furnace grates

Bharat Forge CDP has been established in the crane industry for more than 30 years and is a
leading supplier of forged chassis and engine components as well as non-automotive systems. In Ennepetal, Germany, Bharat Forge CDP manufactures complex drop forgings for running gears, power trains and rail technologies. Since 2020, the company has been working with the KITO ER2 Electric Chain Hoist for lifting furnace grates in a production hall. Due to their high satisfaction, the number of hoists has now been increased to six.

Joachim Höh, Head of Infrastructure Maintenance at Bharat Forge CDP, explains why the
KITO ER2 Electric Chain Hoists make daily operations easier: "After visiting the KITO DemoVan, we decided to apply the KITO ER2 in our production hall. I was able to inspect the tool closely and it immediately seemed very robust and stable to me – exactly what we needed. We are using the hoists to lift furnace grates filled with material. They are moved to the heat-treatment system located one floor higher. The cycle time is every seven minutes."

Since the KITO ER2 could not be used with the standard control system in the Bharat Forge CDP plant, the control was customized by Kranservice Essers GmbH in cooperation with the KITO customer service. And there was also another solution worked out together: To prevent the load from moving out of the hook, KITO provided the hoist with a safety load hook. For Joachim Höh, working with the KITO ER2 is all about reliability: "For me, that's the essential point. The reliability of the ER2 Electric Chain Hoists is unbeatable. We started with one hoist in 2020, and now six tools are in use in the heat-treatment system to operate the material hoists."
