The best-selling equipment options include two-piece booms for tracked excavators. Since this boom option enables the excavator to work with a bigger reach, while maintaining the possibilities of a reduced front swing, this option is requested by construction companies working in road construction, utilities and urban environments. Hyundai CE makes its two-piece boom option available from factory for the following types of hydraulic excavators: HX140 L: 14,000 kg, 93 kW, 0.23 to 0.71 m³; HX145 LCR compact radius excavator: 14,950 kg, 93 kW, 0.23 to 0.71 m³; HX160 L: 18,100 kg, 102 kW, 0.4 to 1.05 m³; HX180 L: 18,600 kg, 102 kW, 0.4 to 1.05 m³; HX220 L: 22,100 kg, 136 kW, 0.5 to 1.85 m³; HX235 LCR compact radius excavator: 24,000 kg, 136 kW, 0.5 to 1.34 m³; HX260 L: 30,200 kg, 180 kW, 0.52 to 1.85 m³; HX300 L: 30,000 kg, 212 kW, 1.44 to 2.10 m³;  HW140: 13,880 kg, 117 kW, 0.23 to 0.71 m³; HW160: 17,100 kg, 134 kW, 0.40 to 1.05 m³; HW180: 17,800 kg, 134 kW, 0.40 to 1.05 m³; HW210: 21,200 kg, 137 kW, 0.80 to 1.34 m³.

The two largest Hyundai hydraulic excavators HX260 L / HX300 L coming with two-piece boom options are available both in narrow and wide chassis variants; all undercarriages are designed as LC (Long Crawlers), since this is the standard undercarriage offered by Hyundai in Europe. All Hyundai two-piece boom excavators come with the boom articulation cylinder mounted to the underside of the standard boom, a solution ensuring effective protection against soiling and damage.

The HX220 L is a typical example. Its 5,650 mm standard boom can be equipped with three dippers ranging from 2,000 to 2,920 mm in length. Compared to the monoblock boom, it comes with a few hundred kilograms less lift capacity. This is owing to the plus in mass of the two-piece boom and additional boom articulation cylinder. All HX excavators come with a load torque monitoring system integrated with the hydraulic/electronic system.

The HX series offers increased productivity on work site thanks to faster work pace. It is up to 5 % faster than the 9A series at loading lorries and up to 4 % faster at levelling. The HX series comes with a boom float mode option and can be operated with the dipper only for levelling, allowing levelling work to be executed efficiently and stably even under high load. The new features include the exclusive Hyundai AAVM or Advanced Around View Monitoring system giving the driver virtual 360° surround view on an 8-inch dashboard display while working. The system consists of an AVM module for the 360° view around the machine and an IMOD or Intelligent Moving Object Detection system that recognises objects moving within the machine’s work range and alerts the driver.

The HX and HW series come with a new cabin design featuring a new larger windscreen and a driver’s door easy to open from inside and equipped with an additional grab bar. The HX and HW cabin interior offers the driver 13 % more space compared with the 9A series. A newly developed air conditioning system improves air circulation within the cabin. The machines also feature the Hi-Mate remote management system developed by HCE. The satellite-based technology offers customers unique service and product support. At the push of a button, users have remote access to information such as machine work history, diagnostic data and machine location. The geo-fencing function allows users to program a virtual geo-fence around the machine to prevent it from leaving a specified area.

The HX and HW series come with some new components enhancing the machine’s productivity such as long-life pins, bushings, low-wear polymer shims and newly designed damper bushings for the cabin suspension. The double-damper suspension reduces noise and vibration and makes the driver more comfortable. The new, easy-maintenance features include ground access to the fuel filter and easy access to the cabin air filter from the outside. Additional railings enhance safety during maintenance and inspection work on the upper deck.
