No load too heavy, no venue too rough: the PK 165.002 TEC 7 shines with its outstanding functionality and adaptability.

Foggy, wet weather in idyllic Gresten in Lower Austria: After 30 years a faithful, long-lasting indoor crane reached the end of its service life. The operation lasted two days. On the first day, the outdated indoor crane got dismantled so that from 9 a.m. on the following day the starting signal could be given for the assembly of the new indoor crane. The experienced and passionate crane driver from Schärding in Upper Austria, Stefan Haas, who has been working for the company Mitterhauser for 13 years and has been completely satisfied with PALFINGER cranes for many years, has found his vocation: “What I do here is my hobby, my passion. At home I’m working.”

After arrival in Gresten, safety briefing and clarification of the situation, assembly could begin. Without hesitation, Stefan Haas maneuvered his favorite one, the PK 165.002 TEC 7, through the industrial halls of company Welser Profile GmbH. It is it’s precisely simple and intuitive handling the experienced crane operator praises. In his opinion, the crane is particularly suitable for special operations, such as the assembly of indoor cranes, where there is little space for various maneuvers and placements and high efficiency is required, as production should not be interrupted for long.

Before this operation, the flexible loader crane PK 165.002 TEC 7 was used, among other places, at lofty heights, in the middle of a storage power station on the mountain and was able to successfully demonstrate its skills together with Stefan Haas there as well.

Smoothly and within a few minutes, the PK 165.002 TEC 7 is positioned and ready for use. Crane specialist Stefan can no longer imagine working without the logical, innovative crane guidance of the TEC 7. He also praises his predecessor model and first own crane, a PK 78.002-SH, "It has also been super, 8 years in use and I still like using it," but it cannot compete to his new PK 165.002 TEC 7 in terms of control, precision and new, convenient functions.

Haas Stefan considers the P-Fold function one of the most practical features: the semi-automatic folding and unfolding of the crane with only one operating lever via the radio control. In his opinion, the RTC is also one of the best inventions, as in his job, the winch is usually in use all day long. It can remain in position with this function and even communicates optimally with P-Fold. Both functions support the set-up process of the crane in a perfect way and optimize the daily work routine enormously. The placement and levelling of the supports, with the innovative remote control, also makes his work much easier: "This really is very helpful. You stand behind the crane and can simply support it, in the end you only have to walk a bit to the left and right side of the crane." The mentioned features increase Stefan Haas's enjoyment of his work almost immeasurably.

According to the passionate crane operator, the assembly of the hall crane was a tricky business, but for his PK 165.002 TEC 7 crane it could be carried out with ease.

The crane with the distinctive P-profile has a maximum lifting moment of 124.8 meter-tons - an overhead crane arm weighs around 5 meter-tons - easy for the innovative powerhouse. The crane tip of the PK 165.002 TEC 7 can be precisely positioned by overstretching the jib as well as the additional jib system, so that the new indoor crane could be placed unerringly and as well efficiently in terms of time. After less than four hours on the second day, the assembly of the new indoor crane has been completed successfully and the production hall could have been operated again.

Franz Josef Loibl, a veteran of Welser Profile GmbH and head of maintenance, initiated the project and has been looking for a powerful, reliable partner: "We do always have very cramped conditions in our halls. The set up and the height also cause difficulties for such a job. Finding the right crane has been our task and we found a very suitable model with Palfinger."
