A new 7,500 m2 structure will streamline delivery times even more and step up the company’s ability to meet growing demand

Simex closed 2019 with successes in all world markets, strengthening its sales network and continuing to develop new attachments that provide effective responses to users’ requirements.

These ongoing efforts in research and development, resulting in the introduction of new products in the range, have also led to the construction of a new 7,500 m2 structure that will streamline delivery times even more and step up the company’s ability to meet growing demand.

As stated Mirco Risi, Simex CEO: “In view also of our expansion into the North American market, we are structuring to fill orders faster. This is a needed step due to two factors: on one hand, we are experiencing longer delivery times by our suppliers, especially hydraulic component makers; on the other, market conditions see users placing orders for attachments only after being sure they got the job, so at the last possible moment before being able to use them. To better respond to these circumstances, we have invested in a new warehouse with high storage capacity scheduled to be up and running in the early months of this year.

TFC 400 and TFC 600: two winning “headers”

Among the products exhibited at the Simex stand, visitors can take a look at the new TFC 400 and TFC 600 continuous cutting double drum cutter heads now part of the large family of Simex cutter heads currently including 11 models of the TF, TFC and TFV series.

Continuing cutting cutter heads offer the advantage of evenly milling material that needs to be profiled or excavated without leaving breaks at center in between the two drums, or requiring the lateral movement of the excavator boom in order to mill residual surfaces, all to the benefit of time savings and working method.

The TFC 400 and TFC 600 cutter heads are designed respectively for 6-10 ton and 9-12 ton excavators. The TFC 400, with its 18.5 kN of cutting force, is an attachment that can excavate small trenches for utilities installation, profile concrete surfaces and ably remove tree trunks in agricultural-forestry applications. Their relatively small size, combined with the use of ultra-radius excavators, provide the user with a highly productive attachment even when working in tight spaces, for example when demolishing small foundations.

The TFC 600 is the more powerful of the two attachments and is designed to take on heavier applications than the TFC 400. With a cutting force of 24.5 kN, this cutter head can be used to mill deteriorated layers of concrete structures, such as side walls and roofs of tunnels, and containment walls in road and highway settings.  The TFC 600 is also ideal for profiling cut-off walls, and thanks to its size and that of the prime mover it is coupled with, it can be used in urban settings to perform trenching for utilities installation, e.g., branches of sewer systems or aqueducts.

No surprise, then, that the quality and performance of the TFC 400 and TFC 600 have been given deserved recognition with the TFC 400 winning the Samoter 2020 International Innovation Award in the attachments category.

VSE broadens the horizons of screening

Since screening buckets have made their introduction, many users have opted for these attachments coupled to an excavator, a solution that offers clear advantages from many perspectives.

However, the first screening buckets on the market had proven their limits, especially when it came to changing the size of the output material, either because it was not a possibility or if it was, replacing the screening systems involved long downtimes, intense labor and the use of special tools.

With the launch of the VSE series in early 2014, Simex devised a solution that radically changed the use of these attachments, in the process creating new parameters of productivity and profitability.

The current range includes four buckets (VSE 10, VSE 20, VSE 30 and VSE 40) intended for 8-45 ton excavators with load capacities ranging from 0.40 to 1.80 cu m. Independent of the model, all the screening buckets feature easy loading, simple use and high productivity. In addition, the exclusive Simex patent allows a rapid size adjustment of the material to be screened in only a few seconds via a control in the operator cab.

In virtue of their patented system, the Simex screening buckets are the only ones that enable output size adjustment even when emptying material loaded into the same bucket without long downtimes or complicated mechanical procedures, a feature that has an important impact on productivity and profitability.

The VSE range offers excellent levels of production also due to the rhomboid-shaped elements with disks in varying diameters that make up the shafts.  This specific shape of the tools produces an intense whirling of the material to be screened, all to the advantage of hourly productivity.

To further boost performance, Simex also offers specially designed tools for different applications (stone, recycled, organic materials, etc.), making this attachment ideal for non-demolition related applications too, such as landscaping and waste treatment.

Among the many fields of application where Simex screening buckets can be used, there is a specific need on the part of some users in the road construction sector that has finally been met: When the task is to reduce the volume of asphalt slabs up to 10 cm thick, users can turn to the CB and CBE crusher buckets as an alternative to a mobile crushers.

The crushers are perfectly able to perform the job thanks to their power, but they reduce the asphalt to a size that is too large for it to undergo the recycling process. Now with the new disks studied precisely for this application, the VSE screening buckets can reduce the material to a size appropriate for reuse. The solution also makes it possible to screen asphalt that is already an ideal size but having accumulated for a long time, has recompacted due to the effects of compression or temperature.
