Introduced in 2016, the WG Wall Grinder is now available in two models: the WG 40 for excavators weighing 2.5-7 tons, and the WG 50 for excavators with weights of 6-12 tons. This innovative attachment has been designed to smooth surfaces such as slurry walls and retaining walls, as well as to profile different kinds of surfaces with irregularities or remove bumps after shotcrete application.
With either model, the high torque allows the WG to be used on small excavators, so they can work in tighter spaces such as when excavating foundations or tunnels.
The WG has been welcomed by a range of users because it has made work possible in situations where larger machines and equipment would be unfeasible. That said, the WG 40 and the WG 50 have proved they can operate on large surfaces such as slurry walls that have to be made uniform in preparation for casting of the surface layer.
Power of a small attachment
Our dealer in Switzerland, Hydremag AG, sold a WG 50 that was used in Waldstatt in the canton of San Gallo to smooth slurry walls, and gave proof of its high productivity. Thanks to its 34 kW (46 (HP) and a milling disk diameter of 500 mm that rotates at a speed of 130-160 rpm, the WG 50 ensures an excellent hourly production. What’s more, its 55° lateral slant to right or left gives this attachment flexibility of use.
For their sizes and ability to be coupled with small and medium-sized machines, the WG wall grinders area ideal for applications in urban areas where noise levels must be kept down (schools, hospitals, etc.). That, plus the absence of vibrations during operation, is a winning factor. These attachments also stand out because they provide an excellent degree of finishing of the structure they are used on.
