The latest Genie hybrid and electric boom and scissor lifts at GIS Show

Genie to showcase electrified booms, scissor lifts and locally manufactured machines at GIS 2023.

The latest Genie hybrid and electric boom and scissor lifts, which meet the industry demand for more environmentally friendly equipment for work at height while also offering a low total cost of ownership, will be featured during the GIS Show 2023, to be held October 5-7 in Piacenza, Italy.

In the outdoor area at booth #F8-H30, Genie will show the hybrid S-60 FE hybrid telescopic boom lift, the GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion and rough-terrain GS-3369 RT scissor lifts. In addition to these selected machines, the Z-45/25J RT articulating boom lift will make its relaunch debut in Italy due to its popularity and high demand. Half of the showcased machines are being manufactured in the Genie plant of Umbertide, Italy, a sign of the manufacturer’s commitment to the Italian market. The all-Italian Genie team will also present customers with new tools to efficiently manage their fleets, and will focus also on the Genie parts, service and training offering in Italy.

Battery maintenance and replacement is one of the biggest ongoing costs for scissor lift owners. Genie’s GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion scissor lift is equipped with a zero-maintenance battery that has been rigorously tested for longevity and reliability, even in extreme temperature environments. Designed specifically for use in MEWPs and certified by the independent Underwriters Laboratory (UL) against fire, electric shock and explosion, Genie Lithium-Ion batteries come with a five-year warranty and an expected lifespan of 10 years. Operators and contractors will appreciate the fast, four-hour charging time, which is 33% faster than FLA batteries, and the ability to work a full shift on a single charge. Optimised for extreme heat (49° C) and cold (-29° C) weather performance, Genie E-Drive Lithium-Ion delivers the same performance regardless of the temperature. Since their introduction in 2020, Genie E-Drive scissor lifts have proven real-world performance, including 25% gradeability and 14° breakover angle. E-Drive motors are brushless and fully sealed against moisture and water for maintenance-free longevity. In addition, potential for hydraulic leaks is drastically reduced because E-Drive has 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings. The GS-1932, on display at GIS, has a 7.55 m working height, 227 Kg platform capacity, and with an 81 cm width, easily passes through standard doors.

The S-60 FE hybrid, manufactured in the Italian plant of Umbertide, Italy, is the industry’s first lightweight hybrid telescopic boom model in the 20 m working height class. The versatility of Genie hybrid booms delivers a higher utilization rate than traditional diesel booms. On outdoor sites, hybrid mode offers true rough terrain performance and low emissions; in electric mode, Genie hybrid booms offer the benefits of low noise and no emissions. Thanks to its brushless AC drive motors, DPF- free engine, simple boom structure and fewer wearable components, it ensures a 10% lower cost of ownership. A weight of just 8,051 kg, about one-third less than comparable booms, makes it ideal for applications with low floor loading. This also makes it easier to transport on smaller trailers, or to transport multiple machines on one load. Key specifications include maximum working height of 20.6 m and a maximum outreach of 12.3 m. The unrestricted platform capacity is 300 kg; the 1.83 m jib delivers a 130-degree working range.

Four-wheel drive with positive traction control ensures the Italian-made Genie GS-3369 RT rough terrain scissor lift delivers extra-rugged performance and the ability to traverse through uneven, rough terrain environments. Patented full-time oscillating axles automatically adjust the axle position based on ground conditions. The GS-3369 RT also offers up to 35% gradeability for demanding outdoor worksites. Built to last with a capacity of up to four people onboard, and featuring a standard 1.52 m front slide-out extension deck, the GS-3369 RT is ideal for increasing operator productivity on demanding outdoor worksites. Slide- or pull-out engine trays allow easy access to components and on-board diagnostics for easy troubleshooting.

The recently re-introduced Z-45/25J RT diesel boom will also be on the stand. Featuring a DPF-free engine for lower maintenance costs, true RT drive performance and reliability with active oscillating axle, the Z-45/25J RT is an excellent option for tight workspaces thanks to its zero tailswing and high angle steer, which provide exceptional manoeuvrability.
