The TRX technology is a technology ithat makes it possible to recycle up to 100% of RAP with a single burner, while also ensuring total remobilisation of the binder.

With more than 40 years of experience in asphalt plant recycling technologies, ERMONT invented in 2017 the patented TRX technology. Based on a drying process using two drums in tandem, linked to a continuous mixer with two synchronised shafts, the TRX technology is the only technology in the world that makes it possible to recycle up to 100% of RAP with a single burner, while also ensuring total remobilisation of the binder.

The first versatile drum has two functions: drying of the aggregates and lowering of gas temperatures for recycling rates below 100%; generator of hot air for a recycling rate of 100%.

The second drum ensures the drying of the asphalt aggregates through exchange with slightly overheated aggregates and/or gases at moderate temperatures, as well as the transfer of RAP binder onto the aggregates. A recirculation of the gases from the second drum in the flame of the first drum allows an adjustment of the temperature of

the gases from the hot air generator and reduces emissions by incineration. The mixer, located at the output of the second drum, performs the mixing of the imported binder and any rejuvenator and also preserves them.

In addition to proportionally decreasing, thanks to recycling, the need in raw materials (bitumen and aggregates) and the amount of CO2 emissions linked to production and transport logistics of these raw materials, the TRX technology also includes a new process DUOTHERM: which combines thermal exchanges between RAP and slightly overheated aggregates and thermal exchanges between RAP and moderate temperature gases that have already exchanged with aggregates beforehand. The result is: low emissions into the atmosphere, below statutory regulations.

The TRX technology ensures a total remobilisation of the binder, which is essential for guaranteeing the lifetime of road surfaces, and their high quality, created with very high, and even extreme, recycling rates. Respectful of the environment, it guarantees lower emissions than those allowed by the regulations in force. With ever changing environmental requirements, ERMONT constantly provides ever more innovative solutions to meet them. The TSX technology, result of many years of research and development from ERMONT, is in line with this dynamic and aims at accompanying ERMONT’s clients in their Eco-responsible projects of tomorrow in order to provide them with a solution that is respectful of the environment, and that advances towards the decarbonisation of their road construction and maintenance jobs. Patented and commercialized since summer 2021, the TSX has already been sold multiple times on the French market, in supermobile and stationary versions.
