The new Liebherr 50 M5 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump in the 50-metre class boasts a whole host of innovations. Development of the pump focused primarily on optimising its kerb weight and dimensions.

The new 50 M5 XXT is the latest addition to Liebherr's range of truck-mounted concrete pumps. The sophisticated kinematic system in the five-fold articulated boom makes it very easy to operate. The alternating pipework by the boom ensures steady movements over the construction site, while the compact truck-mounted concrete pump, with a reach height of 49.1 m and a reach breadth of 44.4 m, achieves an impressive range of action.

An innovative highlight is the newly developed boom pedestal, which enables further increased stability despite already reducing the weight considerably in comparison with the predecessor model. Components produced in-house, such as the ball slewing ring and the slewing drive, play a pivotal role in this: This is where the truck-mounted concrete pump benefits from Liebherr's many decades of experience in developing and manufacturing these components for other construction machines in its product portfolio.

The 50 M5 XXT can be fitted with two different pump units, the THP 140 H with delivery rate of 138 m³ and the THP 170 H with 163 m³ per hour.

Compact design, low kerb weight

Depending on the running gear, the overall length of Liebherr's new truck-mounted concrete pump is approximately 12 m in the transport position. The new and especially compact boom projects very little over the back, which ensures safe driving on the road and offers excellent handling on the construction site.

In Europe, the Liebherr 50 M5 XXT is mounted on standard five-axle chassis (10x4). Its kerb weight therefore lies well below 40 tonnes, leaving more than enough reserve weight for comprehensive accessories. For markets in which the axle load is not restricted, the pump can also be mounted on a four-axle chassis (8x4), resulting in a kerb weight of less than 38 tonnes.

Innovative XXT outrigger

The patented XXT narrow support – of which Liebherr is the sole manufacturer – is exceptionally stable and resistant to torsion. Its front and rear support arms are attached directly to the boom pedestal of the distributor boom so that the forces are transferred straight from the boom to the supports. All four support arms can swivel which gives the distributor boom maximum flexibility and a huge working area around the narrow supports; something which is of particular advantage on construction sites with limited access.

Chassis made by various different manufacturers can be chosen for the truck-mounted concrete pump according to customer requirements. A wide range of optional accessories and equipment is available for the 50 M5 XXT: For example, customers can choose additional storage compartments, a more modular water tank or even an extra step on the left-hand side, as well as a high-pressure cleaner to facilitate cleaning or a pneumatic end hose pinch valve to prevent concrete from trailing when using the boom.
