Responding to growing demand for new solutions offering expanded outreach and load capacity, Copenhagen-based re-rental company Steiness Liftcenter has just received delivery of the first Genie SX-135 XC boom lift in Europe. Marking a European premier, the new Xtra capacity SX-135 XC super boom was handed over to company owner, Poul Steiness by Lars Raagaard, Sales Director for the Genie brand in Denmark, Iceland and Germany, Austria & Switzerland at Steiness Liftcenter’s headquarters on 13th February 2017.
Specialised in the re-rental of big booms for challenging construction, port and industrial applications,Steiness prides itself in being first in line to offer some of the largest and most innovative machines on the market. Loyal to the Genie brand since it set up business in the 90s, Genie machines count for about a third of the Steiness fleet.
“When customers turn to us for big stick boom lifts, what they often need is horizontal outreach,” says Mr. Steiness. And in 2000, as the first rental company in Europe to offer the Genie S-125 boom that set an unprecedented new trend not only in terms of outreach at the time, “The extra capacity Genie SX-135 XC boom marks the most significant breakthrough in stick booms that the industry has seen in well over a decade,” says Mr. Steiness.
Providing customers 3 m (10 ft) more outreach and 32 per cent more capacity across its full working envelope than typical self-propelled booms of this size, the SX-135 XC boom’s market leading 27.43 m (90-ft) outreach, telescoping Jib- Extend, restricted 454 kg (1,000 lb) and unrestricted 300 kg (660 lb) load capacity are huge benefits that add to other significant advances offered by this new extra capacity Genie super boom model.
“Construction has greatly evolved over recent years. Aerial access involves increasing amounts of tools as well as carrying more materials, and in today’s market, we consider the increased capacity of the SX-135 XC boom as an absolute ‘must have’,” says Mr. Steiness.
Adding to the new SX-135 XC boom’s benefits, its 9.14 m (30 ft) jib is a key feature well adapted to an increasingly wide range of tasks such as installing windows and solar panels. “By reducing the number of trips from ground to the working height with tools and materials and the precise weight control, we are certain that our customers will find that they have a lot to gain with this new extra capacity Genie super boom model in terms of productivity and jobsite safety,” notes Mr. Steiness.
With a strong focus on customers in the construction sector, the compact footprint and 6 m (19 ft 8 in) below grade reach of the Genie SX-135 XC boom are also key features that, according to Mr. Steiness make this new machine “An excellent start to finish solution, from helping to build foundations below ground level and upwards, even on sites where due to high water level the foundations have to be protected by sheet pile walls and ground space is tight.” In addition, since in Denmark work is never far from the sea “Many of our customers’ need machines to access harbour applications where extra load capacity, extensive horizontal and below grade reach really count,” notes Mr. Steiness. “We’ve been waiting for a machine with this outreach and capacity for quite some time, and although it’s early days, we’re fully confident that the Genie SX-135 XC boom will lead to high rates of utilisation and high rentalreturns on investment. We’re impatient to hear what our first customers think.”
