Why look far and wide when what you are searching for is right on your doorstep? When the transport and crane service provider W. Mayer from Zweibrücken was looking to purchase a new all terrain crane, this criterion was a major factor in the selection of a supplier.
After all, the company had a historic, traditional link to the Demag plant in Zweibrücken, which is almost in sight of the company location. “Our many machines operated in the past from the HC – and later AC series – were always reliable mobile cranes, and always corresponded to the state of the art. Not least with this in mind, the decision to opt for the new Demag AC 130-5 was easy for us," reports Yannick Alt, assistant to the W. Mayer management, who with his colleague Patrick Graul picked up the crane from the factory yard. Terex Cranes Sales Manager Michael Zieger handed over the new machine.
In the end, however, it was, of course, the tangible technical advantages of the Demag AC 130-5 that were decisive for the purchase: "The AC 130-5 is more compact than any other crane in its class and offers very good lifting capacities even with a small outrigger base – and with the 10 t of counterweight that it can carry," says Yannick Alt to explain the purchase decision. And Patrick Graul adds, "We often work on construction sites with limited space where it is important to adjust the outriggers. Here the IC-1 Plus control system is worth its weight in gold, as it allows high lifting capacities even with asymmetrically extended outriggers. This system completely won us over.”
Both men also welcome the fact that this impressive technology also comes from their home location in Zweibrücken – since the proximity to the plant along with the local contacts is certainly no disadvantage. “The name Demag is also firmly anchored in our region. It’s a name that is all about Zweibrücken and quality – just like we are”, Yannick Alt puts it in a nutshell.
